Tulsa Drillers (1980), Texas League, AA

The 1980 Drillers posted the best first half (40-27) in club history but finished just even in the second half (35-34) and out of the playoffs. It was the Drillers' last season at their old ballpark at 15th and Sandusky in Tulsa, and Twig recalls that the fence was falling down and the field was being neglected "but the crowds were good and we played well."

Major-league players at Tulsa in 1980 were pitchers Dave Schmidt, Jack Lazorko, Jim Umbarger and Jerry Gleaton, infielder Wayne Tolleson, catcher Bob Johnson and outfielder George Wright.
