Pensacola Senators (1962), Class D, Alabama-Florida League
The Pensacola Senators compiled a 79-38 record and won the pennant by 22 games. The team was full of talented players inclulding four left-handed pitchers:
youngsters Bob Baird, Don Loun and Barry Moore, and veteran Fred Waters, a high school coach and retired Pittsburgh pitcher who went 11-2 for the season. The team had a lot of speed,
and Twig had them running all season. The team traveled in a beat-up black bus that kept breaking down. Other teams in the league included Fort Walton Beach, Florida, as well as
Montgomery, Selma, Ozark, and Dothan, all in Alabama. The league folded after that season.
